About Us
Family Service is a private not-for-profit organization working to preserve and strengthen families in times of crisis, change and growth. It provides counseling, support and education to families in need and is funded by the United Way, government contracts, user fees and private donations. Established in 1835, Family Service is the oldest organization of its kind in central Indiana.
Our Belief Statement
Regardless of its composition or form, it is the responsibility of the family to offer all its members an intimate, caring relationship of mutual support and the opportunity to develop as responsible, mature individuals. The family is the primary source of physical care, protection, emotional support, and nurturing of its members. It is within the family that each individual develops the capacity for stable, productive and loving adult relationships. The family is the most powerful force in developing and sustaining social and moral values in its members. Family Service exists to help families achieve these goals.
