Family Service restructures, hires new staff

Family Service of Central Indiana, Inc. today announced strategic changes to its administrative team. In addition to restructuring the counseling area into three main divisions through the promotion of three current staff members, three new employees have joined the administrative staff.


Promotions
   
Michelle Gwaltney was promoted to Senior Vice President of the Counseling and Addiction Services Division after serving three years as vice president of programs and services. She will be responsible for overseeing family counseling and substance abuse counseling as well as the Employee Assistance Program, which provides customized counseling services and workshops for local businesses on topics ranging from workplace violence and sexual harassment to proper interview techniques and utilizing employees during times of change.

Carolyn Langan was promoted to Senior Vice President of the Safe Families Division. She has worked for Family Service for eight years, most recently as the vice president of quality and effectiveness. Her new division includes programs in family violence and parent education as well as oversight of two recently acquired programs: Breaking Free, domestic violence advocacy services and support groups; and A Child’s Haven, supervised children’s waiting room in the Marion County Domestic Violence Court that is jointly operated with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

Gail Rothrock was promoted from vice president of development to Senior Vice President of the Independent Living Services Division. She has worked at Family Service for 10 years and will now oversee financial/housing counseling, older and challenged adult services, and the Ways to Work family loan program. Rothrock will also be responsible for preparing Family Service for the almost 16% increase in Marion County residents age 65 and older expected by 2025 and the corresponding need for independent living assistance for elderly populations.

New hires
   
Stacy Clark joined Family Service as Vice President of Development. She previously was the director of development for leadership giving at Purdue University. Her responsibilities at Family Service will include overseeing fundraising and donor relations as well as growing the Friends of the Family Endowment Fund.

Mary Rahe was hired as the Executive Assistant / HR Manager to oversee human resources for the 50+ employees at Family Service and to assist Family Service President Edie Olson and the Board of Directors. For over 3 years Rahe worked as the human resource manager and executive assistant to the president at Hudson Institute, a public policy think tank.

Michael Runestad is the new External Relations Coordinator and will oversee public relations and volunteer recruitment for the oldest not-for-profit organization of its kind in Central Indiana. He recently earned his B.S. from Northern Illinois University and comes to Family Service from Rockford, Ill.

“I am very excited about the changes we’ve made at Family Service,” Family Service President Edie Olson said. “We’re capitalizing on existing talent while adding new faces to complement our administrative team.”
