Region’s oldest social service non-profit seeks community support to strengthen local families

Celebrating its 170 th year of strengthening local families, Family Service of Central Indiana, Inc. today announced plans for the 12th annual Stand up for Families, presented by Union Federal Bank. The event will be held Nov 12 at The Fountains Banquet and Conference Center and includes entertainment, dinner, and a live and silent auction to raise funds and awareness of the many different programs of Family Service that assist families in times of crisis, change, and growth.

Featured at this year’s Stand up for Families will be the comedy and magic of Ken Mate who has performed his blend of stand-up comedy and magic throughout the country for almost three decades. He has appeared with more than 70 stars as the guest opening act, including: Chicago, Ray Charles, Randy Travis, The Beach Boys, and Weird Al Yankovic. Mate was featured on the television special “The World’s Greatest Magic” taped at Caesar’s Palace, has made over 40 appearances on WGN-TV’s Bozo Show, and has spent 14 years co-hosting the Illinois United Cerebral Palsy Telethon.

In addition to dinner and comedy, Stand up for Families features a uniquelive and silent auction, which has a range of items with wide appeal including: VIP tickets to a Pacers game, 14k white gold earrings with oval opals, a racing experience at Track Attack, and the opportunity to go behind-the-scenes with the elephants at the Indianapolis Zoo.

When: Saturday, November 12 with the fun starting at 6:30 P.M.

Why: To raise money and awareness for Family Service, the oldest social service not-for-profit organization in Central Indiana, and to enjoy an entertaining evening featuring dinner, a unique auction, and magical comedy.

Cost: Tickets are $75 for individuals, $100 for patrons, and $750 for a table of ten and can be purchased by calling (317) 634-6341.

Supporting families since 1835, Family Service of Central Indiana, Inc. strengthens families to overcome typical marital or family conflicts and more serious challenges like domestic violence and chemical dependency. This not-for-profit organization provides training and support for individuals to become better parents, caregivers, money managers, supervisors, and employees. Family Service also empowers adults to continue to live independently as they learn to cope with aging, mental or physical challenges, and/or vision loss. Last year, over 8,000 individuals from Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Marion, and Morgan counties were guided toward their goal of a stronger, healthier family by the caring counselors at Family Service.
