Family Service works to preserve and strengthen families during times of crisis, change and growth through counseling, education and support.

Strengthening families.

Helping families overcome depression, grief and marital or family conflicts such as communication problems, children's behavioral issues and past abuse.

Stopping family violence.

Families come to counseling together but meet separately with Master's level therapists to learn how to prevent future violence.  Support groups and educational programs are also available in sites throughout the community, led by Breaking Free domestic violence advocates.

Special help for families facing chemical dependency.

Families and individuals receive the tools they need to live substance free with assistance designed to fit the degree of addiction.

Giving families the chance to stay together.

When children have been removed from the home or are in danger of being removed, parents receive counseling and education to restore family stability.

Supporting older and challenged adults.

The emotional, protective and some physical needs of older and challenged adults are met so they can continue to live independently.

Providing protective care.

For special individuals who can no longer make decisions for themselves due to age, mental illness or disabilities, Family Service protects them so they can continue living on their own.

Making caregivers stronger.

People caring for elderly relatives get help coping with their responsibilities.

Building better parents.

Because kids don't come with instruction books, training prepares mothers and fathers for child-rearing.

Empowering families financially.

Increasing the chances a family can own a home by helping them gain financial stability through education and counseling.  For others, small low-interest loans for items like a used car or car repairs can help qualified families get or keep a job or stay in school.

Reaching out to the community.

Presentations empower community groups to be supportive of families and the diverse issues they face.

Partnering with businesses.

Customized plans for employee assistance services, management training and other services that create a strategic partnership with business to boost productivity and control benefit costs.

Some services may be covered by Medicaid or other insurance programs.  Services not covered by insurance are available on a sliding fee scale based on family size and income.
