Trauma and Chemical Dependency
Intensive Outpatient Program

Trauma and substance abuse are often connected in women.

Many women entering addiction treatment have experienced traumatic events like sexual and/or physical abuse. They may also stop treatment because the trauma is not being addressed and substances have served to lessen the pain of past events.

To ensure clients are receiving the support they need, the staff at Family Service is pulling from our decades of experience treating both trauma and chemical dependence to create a unique program that addresses both problems.

Program Details

Our 16-week program meets three days a week for the first eight weeks, and then meets one day a week for the second eight weeks. It is for women only and is structured to address key issues linked to trauma and addiction experiences, such as:
  • anxiety
  • sexuality/touch
  • self-harm
  • depression
  • anger
  • physical complaints and aliments
  • sleep difficulty
  • relationship challenges
  • spiritual disconnection.
To compliment content drawn from our traditional chemical dependency programs, information is provided on how trauma affects the whole person and introduces participants to new ways of thinking.

Cost

As Central Indiana’s oldest social service not-for-profit organization, Family Service is committed to making services affordable. Fees are based on each family’s unique circumstances and ability to pay. Cost should not be an issue.

If a government case worker or probation officer has advised you of the need for chemical dependency treatment, enrollment in this program may fall under some of Family Service’s existing government contracts. Call us or check with the case worker and/or probation officer for details.

Enrollment / Additional Information

To enroll, please contact us (317.634.6341) for information or if you have any questions.

Like all our clients, individuals receive an assessment to determine the best methods to address their situations. Comprehensive and customized treatment plans are then created to guide treatment.
